FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
1. What is a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (YTT / YTTC) with Yoga Alliance?
A 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (often called 200-hr YTT or YTTC) is a foundational program accredited by Yoga Alliance USA, a globally recognized organization that sets standards for yoga teacher training programs to ensure quality and consistency.
Yoga Alliance registration means the course meets rigorous criteria covering curriculum, teaching hours, and instructor qualifications, helping graduates gain credibility and recognition worldwide.
This course is designed for individuals who wish to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga—whether to teach professionally or for personal growth.
A comprehensive 200-hr YTT covers:
Yogic philosophy (values, ethics, and lifestyle)
Anatomy of the physical and subtle body (including prana, chakras, koshas, and nadis)
Yoga Sutras and foundational texts
Asanas (postures) with proper alignment and technique
Pranayama (breathwork)
Kriyas (cleansing techniques)
Bandhas (energy locks) and Mudras (gestures)
Mantras and traditional chanting
Teaching methodology and practicum
No prior teaching experience is required, and while previous yoga experience is helpful, it is not mandatory. Applicants should be in good physical health and have a genuine interest in yoga and personal development.
2. What can I do with a 200-Hour Yoga Alliance YTT certification?
A 200-Hour Yoga Alliance certification qualifies you to teach yoga internationally, both in-person and online. Upon completion, you’ll be eligible to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with Yoga Alliance, a globally recognized credential that adds credibility to your teaching, which meanss you can teach anywhere in the world.
Graduates often go on to:
Teach at yoga studios, fitness centers, and wellness retreats
Offer private or group classes
Lead online classes or workshops
Continue with advanced training (300-hour or specialized courses)
Integrate yoga into other wellness professions (e.g. physiotherapy, coaching, counseling)
Or, it could simply serve as a milestone achievement in your personal journey—an opportunity to deepen your practice, expand your understanding of yoga, and experience meaningful personal growth.
3. Who is the Yoga Teacher Training Course suitable for?
Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course is designed for individuals of all levels who want to deepen their knowledge and practice of yoga.
However, because the training can be physically demanding, we generally discourage complete beginners from enrolling. Some prior yoga experience is recommended to fully benefit from the course and manage its intensity safely.
Throughout the training, our goal is to provide you with a solid foundation in yoga philosophy, practice, and teaching skills, supporting your growth as both a practitioner and a confident yoga teacher.
Most importantly, the course is for those who are passionate about learning and ready to embrace the practice with an open heart and mind.
4. I'm not very flexible / I’m not good at yoga. Will I be good at yoga after the course?
Flexibility and physical strength are just one part of yoga—specifically the asana (posture) practice. But yoga is much more than flexibility; it’s a holistic lifestyle that involves mindset, self-awareness, and overall wellbeing.
No one is ever truly “good at yoga” in the same way we might say someone is “good at life.” It’s all perspective and truly depends on what your definition of “good” is. Yoga is a personal journey, unique to each individual.
During the course, you’ll practice asanas daily with a focus on proper alignment, breathing, and safe progression.
You can expect to see growth in your physical practice, though the extent varies depending on your body, background in movement or sports, and how long you have been practicing yoga.
5. What makes One Earth Yoga different from other yoga courses?
At One Earth Yoga, we offer high-quality training led by passionate teachers with nearly two decades of experience in retreats and teacher trainings.
Many programs today offer certifications without covering essential components such as yogic philosophy, the Yoga Sutras, or meditation—core elements of traditional yoga practice.
We take a traditionalist approach, ensuring these foundational teachings are deeply integrated into our course to enrich your practice on every level.
Our teachers are deeply spiritual and committed to preserving the authenticity and true essence of yoga education, guiding students beyond the physical practice to embrace the full heart of yoga.
6. How spiritual is "spiritual"? Do we chant mantras and is it religious in nature?
Our training embraces the spiritual roots of yoga, which includes practices like chanting mantras and exploring yogic philosophy. These elements are offered as tools for personal growth, mindfulness, and connection—not as religious rituals.
Yoga, at its core, is a universal practice that transcends specific religions. We honor the traditions while creating a welcoming space for all backgrounds and beliefs.
If you’re curious or have any concerns, our teachers are always happy to support your individual journey and comfort level throughout the course.
7. Is there an exam at the end of the course?
Yes, we do have both a theory and a practical final exam. These are designed not to create pressure, but to help you retain and apply what you’ve learned throughout the course.
Our main goal is to ensure that you develop a solid understanding of key concepts such as yogic philosophy (core values and ethics), anatomy of the physical and subtle body (pranas, chakras, koshas, nadis), the Yoga Sutras, asanas (postures), pranayamas (breathing techniques), kriyas (cleansing techniques), bandhas (energy locks), mudras (gestures), mantras (chants), and other traditional practices.
To support your learning, we also include fun quizzes throughout the course to reinforce important points and make the material more engaging.
For the practical exam, you’ll be assessed on your ability to lead a class, with constructive feedback provided to help you grow as a confident and capable teacher.

We completely understand that committing to a yoga teacher training can feel overwhelming—it’s a big step, and you’re not alone in feeling that way. Many of our students start with the same doubts.
If you’re unsure, we encourage you to reach out and speak with our Course Director, who can offer personalized guidance and help you decide if this journey is right for you.

Minhee
Perfect! I had a brief lesson with Anshika during my vacation in KL. Thanks to her, I learned how to breathe and how to pose right. Simple poses but with her one-point lesson I could correct my wrong poses. And in person, she has not only good energy but elegance 🙂 hope to meet you and have a lesson with you one day again!
Matthew
I’ve been taking yoga classes from Anshika and it has tremendous helped me. Being a recreational CrossFit athelete, I had to focus a lot on mobility
